Data Science Is Aiming To Be The Biggest Tool for Telecom Industries

In Columns, Technology

Data science is aiming to be the biggest tool nowadays for multiple industries to diversify their business and stimulate it at a very high rate. Data science is responsible for the exponential growth of the business and increasing its effectiveness at compound rates. It is a multidisciplinary field which includes detailed study of ample data in various structured, semi-structured and unstructured form. It obtains meaningful insights from the raw data through data analysis, processing and operation. Data science helps in enriching the data and execute it better for further use by the company. Data science is working in the same way as the fuel works for the vehicle. Therefore, every industry is striving to incorporate this technology as quickly as possible.

The telecom companies are in an identical race and are adopting data analytics at a very fast pace. According to data, India’s telecommunication network is the second-largest in the world by the number of telephone users with 1.183 billion subscribers as of 31 May 2019. It has one of the lowest call-tariffs in the world enabled by mega telecom operators and hyper-competition among them. As of 31 July 2018, India has the world’s second-largest Internet user-base with 460.24 million broadband internet subscribers in the country. As of 31 December 2018, India had a population of 130 crore people , 123 crore Aadhaar digital biometric identity cards, 121 crore mobile phones, 44.6 crore smartphones, 56 crore (43% of total population) internet users up from 481 million people (35% of the country’s total population) in December 2017, and 51 per cent growth in e-commerce. Knowing the above data it shows the urgency of data science to be associated in this business. Let us have a look on how the telecom industry is using the data analytics.

Fraud Detection

In a country like India with such a high population, it turns really difficult to manage the whole bunch of unsupervised data manually, therefore, the telecom industry is involving data analytics in their business. It helps eradicate the fraudulent activities that include illegal access, authorization, theft or fake profiles, cloning, behavioral fraud, etc. With the help of data science, the data can be easily sorted and any glitch can be quickly rectified which will prevent any fraudulent activity from taking place.

Predictive Analysis

The best way to flourish in a company is to know their customer better. If we understand our customers it will be easy for the company to know about the requirements of the customer and their demands which will help us to modify our products and serve the customer better. But in such a highly populated country it’s not easy to remember or analyze every individual’s choice, therefore, data analytics is incorporated which along with machine learning algorithm distinguishes the choices and presents the offering accordingly.
